หากคุณต้องการเรียกใช้ Add or Remove Programs ของระบบ Windows สามารถเรียกใช้งานผ่านทางหน้าต่าง Run โดยพิมพ์คำสั่งดังนี้

1. Start > Run...

สำหรับหน่วยงานที่ต้องการทำการการสร้าง Local Yum Repository บน CentOS เพื่อเพิ่มทางเลือกให้ Admin ในองค์กรหรือผู้ติดตั้งแพ็กเกจต่างๆของ CentOS สามารถติดตั้งแพ็กเกจตระกุล rpm ได้อย่างง่ายด้วยคำสั่ง Yum โดยทำได้ตามขั้นตอนดังนี้

1.ทำการสร้างไดเร็กทอรี่สำหรับเก็บไฟล์แพ็กเกจต่างๆ ของลีนุกซ์
# mkdir -pv /var/www/html/centos/5/{os,updates}/i386

ห้องเก็บจริงจะเป็น mkdir -pv /var/www/html/centos/5/os/i386/CentOS/RPMS/

2. ทำการแตกไฟล์และคัดลอกแพ็กเกจใส่ในห้อง /var/www/html/centos/base.

3. ทำการสร้าง base repository headers
# createrepo /var/www/html/centos/5/os/i386/

4. หาแหล่งเก็บข้อมูล CentOS Mirror list
ตัวอย่างเช่นที่ http://mirror1.ku.ac.th/centos/5.5/updates/i386/
หรือหากต้องการ Mirror list ที่อื่นให้ดูที่ลิงค์นี้ http://www.arnut.com/b/node/334

5. ทำการอัปเดท Repository
# /usr/bin/rsync -avrt rsync://mirror1.ku.ac.th/centos/5.5/updates/i386/ --exclude=debug/ /var/www/html/centos/5/updates/

กรณีต้องการให้ระบบส่งเมล์หาตอนอัปเดท ให้ระบุเมล์ด้านหลังดังนี้
/usr/bin/rsync -avrt rsync://mirror1.ku.ac.th/centos/5.5/updates/i386/ --exclude=debug /var/www/html/centos/5/updates/ | /bin/mail you@example.com -s "New Repo Updates"

การเปลี่ยน CentOS-yum-repository

# cd /etc/yum.repos.d [enter]

# ls [enter]

# cp CentOS-Base.repo CentOS-Base.repo.save [enter] สำรองไฟล์

# vi CentOS-Base.repo [enter] แก้ไข repository

# yum update [enter] ปรับปรุงไฟล์ใหม่
